The Children of Gaza

You are of my flesh    He has said You are of my blood   from golden goblet No belief, no seven      instead of five Takes you further     from his side. Sweet face in tears      or blood Left on cold pavement    the wail to passing The shriek of last lament This child of crescent   cross or star Is heaven sent.

James, So old a war of religion, how can it ever end? The childen on both sides are heaven sent. The innocent die. I pray for peace. Wailing wall/star of david. Muslims, Jews, Christians, all can have their beliefs. Easy reAding, heartfelt.. dellena

Dear James; After reading this poem I can't help but think, as you wish me to, that the poem is referring to the children of Gaza as the children of God. Indeed what is worth the sacrifice as all life is heaven sent? Thanks for this timely reflective and important work. Your friend Gerard

Yes, I will pray for peace....beautifully, skillfully articulate write. I apologize if this borders on fluff but your write has left me bereft of words and renewed my appreciation of your skill as a poet. Lora

Indeed it is so very sad from the beginning of time to the present how the world has changed.....and how it is often more then not the children of this world who suffer the most. I count my blessings each day that for now my grandchildren and great grandchildren live here in America.......though Iknow this too can change anytime.....Your words have penned so many pictures of war and yet there is always the twinkle of hope in them too. Makes you want to reach out, grab hold of a child and never let them go. I will continue to pray for peace my friend for I know our prayers reach high into the heavens every day.......We know HE listens and will respond in kind.......Thanks for the advice with Pretty Girl too. Be well, stay warm and safe, God Bless, Claire
