FOREST DREAM

Lay with me this night                 sweet spirit of nature.                 Soft mosses will be our bed                 and green ferns                 our blanket against night's chill.                 We will sleep safely in a woody embrace                 snug between the buttresses                 of ancient oak sentinels.                 The green canopy above                 will shelter us from the elements.                 We will choose the full moon                 as a night light                 guiding our way to dreams.                 Rest well little spirit                  of this forest primeval.                 We are among friends now.                 With the coming of the Sun                 we will  declare our eternal love                 among these trees                 for God and animals to see.                 Our ancestors will be our witnesses                 and the babbling brook will sing                 our wedding song forever.                 Never again                 will I return                 to the pains                  of civilization.
