The Trace

Unwoven, parted even   stolen like summer days To vengeful winter    brought in fall Narrow missing tide    stumbling upon sand Where castles and hope   trail away floating corpses Instead of coral life below But an interloper lies   between stained teeth Posing upon Pergamos   to avoid a Bible Like the truth dissuaded   to spit upon grace Litmus test for them all   pomp reduced to squalled A congress of corruption If there is a trace    where a Republic once stood Its grace upon thee   be outrage outright

Kudos for you much validated poem - interesting how you managed to get the full emotion out with such impact and imagery in every line. Some outstanding parts of this poem: Where castles and hope trail away floating corpses Instead of coral life below Like the truth dissuaded to spit upon grace Litmus test for them all pomp reduced to squalled A congress of corruption This is a wonderful poem for everyone to read - the disgust lies among us all and you have sharpened the teeth on the sharks that want to bite back. blessings, Deni

A passionate and cutting piece. The closest I could come would be Jesus throwing the moneychangers our of the temple, or Shakespeare’s soliloquy of Mark Antony addressing the masses after Caesars murder. There are signs that the republic will be rescued, but the cost will be for congress to relinquish its revolutionary grip. Antipas may have already been executed. JCH, if there were other motives, it is immaterial to me, this is a splendid, satirical piece.
