Looking Up

Let me down easy since you know you want to go    It will only hurt for a little while    My friends told me so. My heart is heavy with sorrow,    I'm hoping I won't wake tomorrow.    Yesterday my life was looking up for me,    But today I have to face reality. I won't dwell on the times we've had,    Cause looking back can make me sad. I'm looking up to a brighter day,    I'm gaining insight on a better way.    To give my love and get love too,    and not hold in the hurt that's due. Because when you suffer alone in silence,    the end result is sometimes violence.    So remember all people that come your way,    are not all good or bad they say. But how you deal with them has a lot to do,    with what will be coming back to you.    I'll hold my head high and dry my tears,    Because I know I'll meet,    someone, somewhere, sometime this year.

Additional Notes:
This poem was written for a friend of mine going through a rough time of being in love all by herself and finally coming to terms with it. It took her a while but now she is free and enjoying the single life the way it should be enjoyed, with "love, laughter and honesty." (that is another poem)
