Hi Charles, This is fabulous poem that should be set to music, it's a travesty not to do so! I found myself tapping my foot as I read your expressive words and wonder if you are musical as well as a poet. I like the dialect, the easy flow, the well chosen words and the theme. Well done. Best wishes, cheyenne

charles, a delightful piece; I could hear the blues rifts and power chords in the background. I found it interesting that of all the great bluesmen (I listen to blues extensively including for two hours every morning at work) you would choose Leadbelly. Most of his “blues” he brought on himself- but your piece does reflect a style I could hear John Lee Hooker singing. On a personal note: I could easily see me taking those lyrics with the old style guitar- and playing and singing the piece. It is a good bluesy lyric that screams for me to pull down my guitar and play and sing. Now, the content- it is a nice piece, generic and we call all find ourselves in the lyric. good write.
