To My Reader

there is the cant of men, the dull thrum,                                                                      the incessant reach and the rivalry.                                                                       but sometimes you get a few minutes.                                                                      there is mercy, and there is Mercy.                                                                      there is time, and there is Time.                                                                      sometimes the lower case and the Upper Case                                                                      merge, resulting in poetry, charity,                                                                      a life endowed with meaning.                                                                       you beg for the coupling.                                                                       the only thing that matters makes                                                                       you mendicant.                                                                       if you're not that,                                                                      i won't understand you,                                                                      and you won't                                                                      understand me.

Mark, You speak true. Love and caring are all that matters. Touching another with your words, is a great way to connect. I like this thought and you expressed it well. I feel I understand you better....... Dellena

Although I haven’t much to say about rivalry- it really doesn’t (at least in writing) enter my sphere of purveyance, the piece moved well past the thought. I understand mercy and being who I am I treasure time. I find mercy rare and time stretching beyond when I will be here to judge its affluence. I have written about writers and mercy, Walt Whitman knows all about the merciless, or maybe John Keats; In the current retinue of writing- mercy and time are equivalent in the equation; one needs time to not require mercy, and with time and forbearance, soon less mercy will be required. A fine philosophical piece with a Thomas Harris theme, or maybe it is a John Powell (one of my favorite authors at a younger age), and yet to look into the candy store, or the hardware store- one either lusts after the candy or requires a tool or repair needs, and in the daydreaming can’t have either without a benefactor. Maybe I read too much into your writing, maybe the desire requires that I be mendicant, or maybe there is just too much fun associated with the thrill or despair within the content that I cannot stop myself from partaking, applying or comparing the proverbs to who I am or what I have I seen. Is that begging? Maybe it is. In that case; sometimes the pauper truly can be the king- and although I can crack some nuts I don’t always know where the royal seal is stowed. Very nice piece. Impeccably written as always.
