Heated Moments

Soaked with winter's cold Huddled to home's warming flame Dried to perfection

Hi Dellena, I am assuming your have written a haiku or synryu. Haiku is always about nature and I think your poem would qualify as that. One thing to remember when writing either of these forms no caps are allowed. Of course if you have just written a 5/7/5 poem it doesn't matter. I like the theme and your excellent word selection. It is a creative poem. Wel done. best wishes, cheyenne

This is a sweet poem Dellena. It's like comfort food, a nice short piece that is endearing and cleverly written. Enjoyed this very much. blessings, Deni

Dellena, I could assume this is a story of coming out of the cold, and finding the hearth warm; and that is it. However; there is a grander, even obtuse metaphor within this short piece. It is much like the Maunder Minimum and the first century of the mini ice age that forced people to stay indoors for long periods of time. The close proximity caused a great sickness and exasperated disease, particularly the black plague which killed a third of the European population. All that said, bringing together families also brings into close proximity the ills that might exist between the spirits of those people who will inevitably find the moment ripe for the airing, (the sickness that is now forced to interact). Your piece, metaphorically, brings a much different culmination, that of the holidays, the spirit of goodness and common celebration overcomes the family difficulties, (at least for a while in relating to the greater affection) and families remember who they are, as a community. They warm to each other for the winter’s moment. Then again, I’ve gone sledding before, played in the snow, and walked through the sleet and snow; and should the cold ever chill me as a child or otherwise, a warm house and hot coco have always warmed me “dried me to perfection”. There is always that. With that drying is also found a certain inward sentiment that warmed the soul.
