Pink Blossoms

So the earth has gone mad with beauty green spears drift as petals open and the crabapple offers pink blossoms clashing with leaves turning crimson where lilacs bloom The heather is bright with buds standing against leaves unspent and lime green grass is wind blown This unkept, unnerving scene is a pageant whose cost we can’t measure till after the winter has taxed us lean

This was my fav of the three in a row and I like the unspent leaves, that worked nicely for me. Mind if I steal that? It's so much smoother than unused or unfallen, it sets up unkept and unnerving. It makes me wonder if you suffered from the drought at all, we did and though we've had rain the last two weeks our garden was severely stunted. I hate to see the fighting that's going on and saw where your name was mentioned and I know you as a person and I know you've won tons of times on this site and have had several instances where you finished lower than you should have because of a first place finish the prior month. You have earned all your accolades and first place finishes, that's the way I see it anyway. mk

cheyenne, where I live is the flower captitol. There are fields from spring to autumn of flowers grown for sale. On warm days the air is filled with fragrance and bees servicing the blooms. While reading your piece, it put to words the spring and summer of blossoms locally. I have always enjoyed the use of –heather- and your distinction is poignant that all the –pageant- that surrounds us is –unkept- The beauty of it all will do just fine aside from the cultivation of man, or with it. Of winter; I will reserve judgement. She is also a friend of mine. Of taxing – from that springs other images of despicability. Really a fun, warm and true piece.

Hi Cheyenne, Lovely poem paints a panoramic view of spring bursting forth. "So the earth has gone mad with beauty", is a great line and is perfect for the beginning of your work. My favorite time of year and I find the scene to be enchanting, enthralling, anything besides unnerving. Your last two lines are splendid, a really good ending and for me is the core of the poem. "Pageant" brings color, excitement, and movement to the landscape. Thanks for the painting! Wanda

Cheyenne! I really like this! This is right down main street (if you will)..a bright parade for all to admire! Excitement in the line that says "earth gone mad with beauty" sends this reader into a dive for more. I just cant say enough about the first verse. 'drifting, 'offering' and 'blooming' are great pictures for your inner garden. And then, in the wildness of it, the heather and grass blow in the wind. The unkept earthly pageant running its own program while we watch and wait. Awesome! Its a well written piece that shares well with the world! ~smiles! Ellen

Just love spring and all it's vibrant colors of which you've just painted the most delicious pictures. I could not only see the blossoms but could smell them. Thank you for such a great early morning wake up. Bravo, well done. Lora
