Train Stop

Does the engineer see    what's plain to you and me Ahead the washed out bridge    yet still it's full steam ahead The somber watch the children    aisles sparkling with their run Entranced the next day will come    like dawn brought today

I think of the engineer in this poem as the heart. The mind can see the bridge is out but the heart stokes the engine. The imagery in this work is a sparkling as the children's run. Excellent write

JCH, I love how you capture the innocence of children and merge their “aisles” running with the running train. I recently wrote a “train” poem which I will post and I think it was inspired in part by yours, which I had read before - while promptly also by real life events. Well done. MSS
