When You Get There

When you get there I hope  God answers every question you've ever had Gives to the reasons for all the bad  A purpose to all the sad I hope he gives you wings  as large as the love you shared and a laugh as contagious  as your humour you would bring That he will restore your sight so that you may see the light you gave to so many that needed your bright  I hope that when you get there that you will be aware  of all that miss you  simply because you cared     The roads you travel  are no longer of gavel  but are of winds that speak of love   and of starlight that sings  of beauty

Joe, you ask and answer the questions everyone has asked, though the answer is always wait till you get there. I have tired of the free will answer, it is droll, and what use is power if one feels confined against not doing good. Some may say that adds the quaintness to the quality. This is an incredibly sensitive and loving treatise. We all, could, in passing, fill in the blanks and adjectives, take your piece and utilize it universally as the anthem for empathy. Beauty- so much of it will have to wait till the next time around. Thank you for sharing what soul is all about.

Joe, is this a follow-up to Loss? If so, it sounds like a recovery piece on the awful road away from grief. S1 is an excellent opening, in its universality, in that I think it speaks for every human being who has looked for answers. Hope is the essential word here and I was glad to see it in the first line. “wings as large as the love you shared”, very original at least to me and descriptive. Everyone, too, identifies with a contagious laugh, and people with a keen sense of humor are always ‘known’ for it—remembered for it. That he will restore your sight—my first thought was of course he restores our sight—but then that’s me and this is your hope. S4 is a very keen verse—“that you will be aware”. I’ve wondered that a million times—are they aware of us anymore or does God relate our thoughts (this can be good or bad, you know, depending on if we loved the person or did not!) Your concept of roads of winds and starlight that sings gives us an excellent ending picture. A joy to go through line by line. Marcia
