In a Gene Clark tempo

I looked for love and understanding never knew it wasn't for me I reached out to touch somebody never knew they couldn't feel me I prayed to a god without ever knowing if he was there or listening I showed what I thought was my soul to anyone who seemed to care I've been only talking to myself never realized no one was here I'll keep dreaming of a life where I love and I am loved I'll see better days before me because those behind me are all dead There are no more words to be written I have said all I can say

Additional Notes:
Watching my college basketball team get destroyed, listening to too many (if there is such a thing) Gene Clark songs, hastily written.

I feel the pain within this poem. It is hard not to miss. Yet you convey it in such away has not to feel sorry for yourself, just stating facts. I love the line about praying to God not knowing if he is there. Showing your soul to those who might care. As hurtin poems go this is one of the best I have read to date.
