A Change of Seasons

Through panes of glass                   I watch the blowing wind                 little prisms of ice crystals                dancing freely in the cold air.                      I sit curled up            mesmerized by crackling sound of logs                   burning in the fireplace.                      I thread a needle               with hues of color like a rainbow               as I paint pictures onto cloth             while I yearn for a change in seasons.               With green I think of sprouting                buds filling branches on trees               waiting for a burst of sunshine                to help finish their rebirth                      into another year.               Daffodils and Forsythia blooming                     in shades of yellow                      like the sun itself                    on a bright spring day.                    Blue as a Robin's egg                      lying in a nest             built so intricately of grass and twigs               hidden in boughs of a pine tree.                   With red I see Tulips                 swaying in a gentle breeze              with droplets of water lingering                   after a passing shower.           I thread my needle with yet another color            while I yearn for a change in seasons.
