Recollections Yarns of old, I hold dear as sacred memory Woven tapestries of yesterday's thread of how life used to be Way back then, my mom recalls events as a little girl Relives an era in days of her youth in such a different world "We walked to school...or rode a mule most folks didn't have no cars We stayed busy doing our chores weren't no TV...we watched the moon and stars We shared a spring, the water was pure as farmers had plenty to eat We grew a garden...chickens for eggs in the fall, we'd kill a cow or a pig for meat People were scarce, the neighbors were few families struggled to put down roots We dressed in bonnets and flour-sack aprons the men wore ragged overalls and old, dusty boots" Just old stories my mom would tell recollection of days gone by I'll cherish each tale, holding them dear as keepsakes within...until I die |
