Solitude

Alone among whispering pines Watching fragments of life pass by Listening to exotic stories of past generations Transfixed in ethnic spirituality As bitter peace reigns high Comatose with translucent visions filtering through Fragile soul cowers within Always listening, afraid to be heard Wondering the planes with loneliness Not enough will to lead Yet to shy to follow Solitary confinement within one's self Thrashing to loosened into the world But terrified to let go Afraid of the too-earthly spectrum of sights Clinging to the cage of emptiness Dreaming for existence in both worlds
