The Apology

While the pressed lips of the wind blow a chill through last night's open window, we lie here in our bed at two in the afternoon on this slate day in April. I am cramming the deep molasses of our love into my mouth. My hands at the back of your head are tangled in the restless blossom of your curls. You have just apologized, and I can feel those vulnerable parts of my body bulge forth into your arms, a sudden bubble of forgiveness. Our secret selves are packed with poison,  we know this, so,  we rush into each other  like an escape in the night. It's a small moment, really, but amazements lie in these fleeting, scattered seeds of touch and truth, when we hold each other, shivering, naked, clinging to the love we know can save us from our brief, physical lives.
