Relay for Life

Wearing purple ribbons pinned to our shirts we follow the track carrying a brightly colored banner, "Relay for Life". Giving off a warm glow, the luminary candles flicker in the dark, framing the field while "Amazing Grace" is being sung in the background. Everyone stands together as one, I see a candle dedicated to me. I am a survivor! I light one in memory of my father.

Additional Notes:
This is my first year I felt well enough to attend the cancer walk in our area. I managed to make it seven laps around the track, not all at one time though. The walk lasted twenty four hours and they raised over $60,000 for cancer research. I plan on doing the walk next year too. :)
