The Shadows Of My Heart

I'm lying on my bed and I'm staring at the ceiling. The only sound I hear is the sound of my own breathing. My mind is reeling and I don't feel like eating. I have a ruptured emotion and can't stop the bleeding. I wait for night and pray for cloudy skies. Because on a moonless night, shadows can't survive.      You have scaled my walls      When I let down my guard.      So why do you hide      In tne shadows of my heart?      You have teased my soul      And it's tearing me apart.      Because you keep dancing      In the shadows of my heart. My armies of defenses now are fleeting fast. A once stable life is now a distant past. My habits are all dirty and my vices all unclean. I'm fighting all my fires with cans of gasoline. Time is not a friend when pain and sorrow only ages. I will only smile when my shadows lose their faces.      You have scaled my walls      When I let down my guard.      So why do you hide       In the shadows of my heart?      You have singed my soul      And it's tearing me apart.      Because you keep stomping      In the shadows of my heart.
