A CHILDS INNOCENCE When looking into the eyes of any child I see an ocean of dreams yet to be filled. I see towering forests of strength Climbing roads that wind at will. When I hear a child speak I listen in awe at the innocence and curse the thief who soon steals it away leaving just emptiness. When a child looks up into the moon-lite sky It's falling stars and planets they see and I take their hand and close their ears to the gunshots in the evening breeze. When I hold a child to my breast I feel the energy of a lifeline connect yesterday and tomorrow become just words the moment is all we expect. When I walk away from a child my body becomes weak in every part I take with me fond memories of laughter and joy but always leave behind my heart. |
