Cannibal

The life ebbs out of me                           my marrow consumed - bones sucked dry                           flesh savored, enjoyed and then devoured                          eyeballs harvested, the soft meat a delicacy                         My teeth jangle, hung on his string necklace                                      his goldness                                     his bronzeness                              the silver of his eyes, glinting                            still seeking my soul as a sacrifice                              as a tribute to a showman's God                                and a conman's deliverance                              hovering just beyond his grasp                           He has my scent but never my essence                        has pulled apart my mind, but is denied my soul                                       without flesh                                     without human life                                     I discover freedom
