My Little Girl

Feeling so different from other kids. Never revealing the secret that I hid. Worried the strangers could see by simply looking at me. Now I'm the mother of a beautiful girl, protecting her from this scary world. Search her trusting, innocent eyes Questioning every tear that she cries. Helping her discover and grow Protecting her sweet, fragile soul. Knowing the dangers in her way, afraid to let her go out and play. Scared the thread of indecency. Will cast its evil curse. Upon the next generation and pass on the humiliation. Mothers are protectors by our nature. We chase away any threat of danger, but when is it time to just let go and let my daughter have control?
