Little Girl, Little Boy

I close my eye And see the past Of agony, pain and woe, Children lost In fear and shame Secrets I did not know. A little boy He wets the bed The father gives his aid, Mother sleeps Through the night Little boy is so afraid. A little girl She hates her room Her father gives advice, Mother works She's never home Little girl will pay the price. The little boy He wants to play Father get the bat and ball, Mother's gone Never at home Little boy will take the fall. The little girl She wants to please So father takes her hand, Mother's gone Never at home Little girl can't understand. My little boy Asleep in bed His father comes to kneel, Mother wakes She catches him The secret is revealed. My little girl Asleep in bed Father's gone from this place, Mother comes Kisses her head Gives a warm embrace. I open my eyes And see today Relief, comfort and joy, Children found In grace and honor My little girl, my little boy.
