Take Two

Well here I go again Down that same old road in time I know that my soul will be murdered Still I return to the scene of the crime Oh the players and the scenery are different But that sad plot is always the same I'm cast away effortlessly like an empty shell And someone else is winning the game Will it ever be my turn to win- To triumph above all the rest? Or is it my roll to be "king of pain" Forever to fail love's big test? Just once I want to be the one Who runs faster than the crowd I'll cross the finish line out in front And they'll shout my name out loud I'll get the girl and she'll smile at me For to me she will always be true And we'll live happily ever after Like those lovers in the fairy tales do But for now I must play my role faithfully Understudy to the star of the show If my chance comes along Will I be brave and strong? I hope the fates guide on which path to go
