My White Knight

There is no one quite like you. How'd you come around, With your grumpy old voice And its gruffy old sound? How did I find you? How did you find me? In this vast world of people Just what did we see? I've known you for years. Not known you at all. I've watched you ride stallions Since I was just small. You were my white knight Who powered the steed. A master of destiny, A wild rogue indeed. I cowered in awe, Averting my eyes. I was no match  For one older and wise. We moved on with our lives, Good and bad, through the years. We each lived and grew. Each cried separate tears. While forging ahead In our worlds far apart We could not have known Fate would guide our hearts. I with my children, A horse and some hounds, A tattered tom cat And a bird that I'd found. You were a wiser man Starting again. You too were alone now, Except for your friends. You brought one precious child,  One lowell little pup, Your love and laughter, And that was enough. We danced and sang. Each told our tales Of how our lives changed Over so many trails. We shared all our dreams, Our deepest thoughts. We laughed and loved. We cried and fought. Together we struggled At building a life, With you as my husband, And I as your wife. You are my white knight On stallions that soar. I am not alone now. Not anymore.

Additional Notes:
When I was a young, my father would hire Bobby to break the horses no one else could handle. He was in his early twenty's. I was sixteen and enchanted. My father would send me home on the days Bobby rode, but, I would hide in the tree line, completely awed. Bobby would tell you it took him eighteen years to get a kiss from me. But one kiss was all it took. We have been married for a long time now. He is my best friend. This poem is for him, and he wanted me to share it with you. Tisa
