Letting Go of Pride

Pride has no conscience And conscience has no pride The two won't go together For they cannot coincide Like a blend of oil and water They both refuse to mix What pride leaves unattended Our conscience has to fix While pride is great protection By design to make us strong Conscience is our inner voice That tells us when we're wrong Which explains why "I'm sorry" Can be so difficult to say In conscience we can feel it But then pride gets in the way It takes a wiser person  To make them form a truce Letting pride serve conscience Putting conscience then to use
