Reaching the Light

Imagine what it feels like a hundred times a day,                              to hear these lines inside your head, a hundred words at play. Verses come to haunt me, prose to pierce my skin, lexis turns against me, defenseless once again. My pounding head begins to ache, my heart to quickly race. I fear this unvoiced agony revealed upon my face. If I could just release these thoughts, unearth this buried treasure, the liberty my mind perceives would rise beyond all measure. Yet rhymes remain relentless as acute profanity. Like a panther stalking hapless prey they attack my sanity. Revealing no mercy, no reason or cause, their mere presence scars me like the cat's angry claws. I dream maybe someday the luxury of time will allow me to pen every verse, every rhyme, till chaos surrenders reward and respite, and my voice wins release in poetry’s light.
