Tell Me....

Tell me just how wonderful I am I'll tell you just how wonderful you are And I won't tell the world that you're a ham If you will tell the world that I'm a star No matter what I say, just gasp in awe I will gasp right back at all you've said Makes no difference what we heard or saw Just say, "I can't believe what I've just read!" We'll adjective each other back and forth And throw sweet sounding adverbs on the fire Send out the compliments for all we're worth And loudly praise 'til all our breath expire     Then all upon this pedestal will stand     Attempting to applaud with just one hand

Additional Notes:
Some time ago, an excellent poet said, as part of a critique of one of my submissions, "OK, you're a genius, I'm a genius!...Now, let's get down to some serious discussions of good poetry!" This sonnet was inspired by and is dedicated to, that most excellent of poets - sometimes known as "the Sonneteer" or, more familiarly, "Fancy Pants," Mark Steven Scheffer - Thanks, Mark!
