The Land of Illusion (revised) Adventurous as I may be it is challenging to chart a course to a new location--to go to the land of Illusion and come up with something unique to coastal waters. To find a relic or something quite ordinary, like a girl's locket or a boy's penknife, but special nevertheless. Riding the currents; totally obsessed with discovery. I take voyage with the words; avoiding being capsized and getting hung up on the rocks. Today the wind is hitting the sails just right and the waters are steady; tomorrow I might not be as lucky. What carries me along is the wind and my crew. My crew are thoughts, ideas, memories, and sometimes metaphor, simile, and alliteration step onboard. I being the captain open my logbook to record the trip. I have my compass (pen) and I am setting course for due north. Full speed ahead on the briny sea. As we travel the crew begins to sing a mariner song. Eureka, looking through binoculars one of the crew spots land. We anchor the ship step onto land and plant a flag. I then make the last entry in the logbook-- completed voyage. |
