On the Death of a Child

A small beating heart causing ours to soar.     A birth anticipated from day to day fills waiting souls with glorious hope...    A gift from God, a precious ray. But, when you came, joy turned to despair,    for our lovely child took not a breath. In anguish we gathered round our broken dream...    hopes vanished in the grip of death. Called from us, we know not why,    nor would our grief be less for knowing. Tears come not so often now.    Soon we too must be going. Running, laughing, with angels play...    whole and free, joy streaming from thy face. We see our love within the Father’s house.    A happy child within His holy place. God hold thee tightly little one.    His love serve till the day we behold thy sweet smile in glory...    alive again in Jesus, Maggie Mae.
