new year

There is an end to your means. I know the means. I know the end. Hearts shatter every hour; And we wait for this, Stall against it, lose our will, Lose our minds. I want to laugh at this revelation, But I marvel instead at the inconsistencies In your thoughts and actions -- Wheels in motion On a tank disguised as school bus. Stark regret leaves you naked. You make your confessions from public phones, Hoping some one out there cares. My purpose pales against the mountain of your quest: You've already laid your plans for the new year. Coffee is your catalyst, Morning rushes in to fill the room. Shaky hands and quivering lips; We burn together when alone. There are too many tightropes to walk Without guarantees.
