God's Eyes

The child stared knowingly at me so young, it still saw with God’s Eyes holding all knowledge until it would be taught to forget Peering into my soul it knew the answer to my confusion babbling in the language of angels that I long ago knew The lilting tones of inhuman words tugged at my lobes like the giggles of cherubs amused at the foolishness of adults Sweet sincerity and friendship were reflected in the soft, brown orbs she reached for me, full of compassion perfect fingers, curling and uncurling The unintelligible sounds trailed off as the mother wheeled away the happy child I saw the loving face of God in a waving baby girl secure in this world
