"Words"

Formed my learned communication,    Invoking the dreams of imagination,     Carelessly or carefully they flow,    Spilling out of the mind into the heart.        Alive with colors of the soul,    Revolving in shades of emotion,    Piercing the walls of defense,    Spinning through time to their mark.         Limited by mortality,    Expressing our deepest self,    Breathing shades of passion    in dark recesses of our nature.         Molding the clay of human life,    Shaping attitudes and desires,    Creating the facets of personality,    Such is the power of words.        Speaking my opinions,    Writing my own volumes,    Touching the spirit,     But all without substance.        My words will never fling worlds     into the void of eternity.    He spoke, and sent the earth and stars      spinning perfectly into place.              My words will never breathe the wind    whispering through the leaves.    He spoke, and the power of a hurricane    ripped across land and sea.              My words will never grow red roses    fragrantly blooming for my joy.    He spoke, and a rainbow appeared,    reflecting the colors of His mercy.              My words will never create a living soul,    searching for words of completeness.    He spoke, and from a bit of dust,    breathed life into the clay of humanity.
