A Poet's Lament

A poet's lament, is his time's always spent, with paper & pen by his side. For he must at all cost, write thoughts down e'er there lost, which he couldn't in conscience abide. If he writes it in rhyme, using three-quarter time, he must carefully choose every word. Just to maintain the rhyme, he might be so inclined, to use words that are truly absurd !!! So you see...it's not easy, when you're FORCED to use 'breezy', just because its a word that will 'mesh'. And you must understand, it's not part of the plan, case in point..here i'm forced to use 'fresh' !!

Additional Notes:
I wrote this a long time ago with tongue placed FIRMLY in cheek!! I am sure we have all seen what i describe above... who knows?? maybe even YOU have been guilty of some of them!! But if you HAVEN'T, i am sure you have seen poems here that do EXACTLY that... strive unsuccessfully for the RHYME & the rhyme ONLY!! I don't know about you... but on the occasions that I come across it, i SHUDDER !!!!
