The Old Spinster

I saw her spinning in the corner, while he, it seemed, just didn't bother to cast a glance in her direction. Pity that was his last discretion. He thought he'd seize a tasty treat; and, unknowing of four pairs of feet that stood guard always, sentinels, he triggered all her woven spells. Reborn, she pounced!  Eight diff'rent ways! And with her silks, she bade him, stay. To my surprise he did just that. And now she spins, alone, and fat.
