Picture a Man Picture a man Age nineteen Put in a foreign land Armed with an M-16 Scared to death He walks so long Out of breath He mumbles an old song Hiding under brush The time lingers Such a terrifying rush Shaking his fingers Holding the rifle strong Carefully he aims the gun Shooting the Veitcong Thinking this is not fun It won't stop raining Every day and every night He won't stop praying To see the sun so bright His family he misses Especially his wife He awaits their kisses As he gambles his life Imagine hell Nothing is calm Nothing is well Imagine Veitnam |
Additional Notes:
This is the first poem I have ever written, 5 years ago, when I was 15 years old. I don't expect to get good critiques. I just want all the men and women who participated in war to know that some of us actually do apriciate what they do for us. And if you didn't participate in war then reading this maybe you will understand better what hell could be like. Thankyou for taking the time to read this.
Sorry, there are no critiques for this poem in our system... If the poem is older, the critiques have been purged!
