Yesterday's Heroes

Yesterday's heroes were one of a kind, they had morals & scruples to spare. Their ilk nowadays is so hard to find. Such a shame that their breed is so rare. Remember Clark Gable in Gone With the Wind ? Now THERE was a hell of a man! On screen you recall that his outrageous sin was to utter, "I don't give a damn". Even James Cagney who played the bad guy, always murdered his victims with charm. And he showed how the heroes of yesterday died, (with a smile & a blonde on his arm). Don't forget Jimmy Stewart..a soft spoken man, who remains at the top of the list. You never see any of HIS movies banned, (course his HORSE is all you'd see him kiss !) And who can forget the screen queen of them all? Yes you guessed...i refer to Mae West. Although she resembled a gun-toting moll, she never uncovered her chest. And do you remember that immortal line, that she spoke with a smile to beguile? The one that goes, "come up & see me sometime", but she said it with grace & with style. And when she was asked 'bout the men in her life, she remarked then like only she can. That she never gave thought to the men in her life. (Only thought of the life in her men !) But now you have starlets who strip at a wink, and they claim that they do it for art. (That guy Art is lucky..you probably think). Bet you'd pay them to give you ART'S part ! I guess when you read this you'll think i'm a prude. Well i think its an outlook that's fresh. Yet you might be surprised if you see my eyes glued, to the screen when they flash excess flesh !                                     Writer's Soapbox Awards                                                          Copyright Writer's Soapbox 1999. Additional Notes:
First, let me say that i am not good at punctuation... i'm trying, but as hard as I try, there are many of you here to remind me just how poor i AM at it....LOL Secondly, i used brackets ( ) to signify an "aside", like an actor on a stage whispering something directly to the audience that his fellow actors aren't suppose to hear. (if you still don't know what i mean... just picture Groucho Marx...eyebrows raised... WICKED grin on his face & tap, tap , tapping on his notorious cigar:) Thirdly, ENJOY (i HOPE!!) OHHH...one last thing... i used apostrophes a few times to maintain meter.
