Life in the Big City

I heard a man say "it's going to rain" and another replied, "wash up the losers again." "We'd better go in"  said the first to the other "take shelter ourselves from the homeless beggers." "Where do they all go?" said he in wonder. "What do they find to hide a whole family under?" "There's plenty for that trash- old cars and boxes and stuff. They don't mind anyway, they're used to the brush." "Ah, I guess you're right" he said with some doubt. Then they both went inside, and locked me out.     *********** That night in the storm a boy child died. Wrapped under his mother who lay there and cried. When morning came she lay there still. Others roamed about  collecting their fill.           (scroll for more) The one man to the other, "Quite a storm last night. My wife who was sleeping awoke with a fright." "Mine too" said the fellow "and I sure praise God that I wasn't stranded out in the weather so bad." "Think those poachers survived it?" asked he without care. "I suppose they did" he turned away,  "No doubt they're out stealing somewhere." "Well, they'll not have mine!" said the one who praised God. "I've worked mighty hard, to get what I have."   ********* Just then she arose. She could take no more. She lay  her dead babe on this man's door. ****************** It's never the end.

Additional Notes:
Not a personal story, but it could be. Could be mine, or yours, or that nice neighbor you have. This year, won't you spare a half penny for them?
