A Mans Word

For marriage is a blessing. For few that do believe The isle of life, is one thing that should, Never be reckoned with, For these odd days People do abuse, The fact of what this means, The hand that blesses ones, so lucky Should always persevere, For the line between, truth and honesty Does seem to be unclear, For we give an oath, in a holy place, That the words I do arn't quite clear, But what is to follow, Is a failure of what we all fear, For the line of an oath, Is now quite thin, Between love, and one good thing. For answer me this, if you may For the word I do will be thrown away, For a man and his word was, Meant to be, stronger than life itself But, to stand and give your word To a power higher than yourself Isn't that a force, to be reckoned with.

Additional Notes:
This poem was written in thought of the people that I know. Some of these people married and said their vows, and also gave an oath in a holy place to a power higher than themselves. some of the people that are friends, ended up devorcing only to reconcile anything up to ten years later. And the others stated they only wanted to know what it was like and just to have an excuse for a party, and to also recieve presants for things they could not afford. Not to think of their wives and how they may feel. To me a person who has done things like this is just wasting their time in life. For if they ever found the right person they would think that it would not be worth while. And what a waste of love that would be. I have been told in the past about men in the old days having to live by their word in life, and not by lies. Maybe it is how a lot of people lived, around 40-50 years ago. But I am convinsed that people in general dont live by this now. Their are some that think a mans word is a whole lot of hogwash, and with some men not all, that I have met. I would have to agree. The thing is that I dont believe that one should marry unless shore of what this means. For to give an oath is to pledge your life to another, For to break it is a sin. Why would one accept second best when one should have the best. For patience is a virtue, And who knows what the future will hold. I haven't had much to do with christiananity in my life, but these are my beliefs. This is how my beliefs stand and one should come first and not second best, alongside any man.
