The Carols For Celebration

Long ago, one holiday season  When I was very young, I asked Mom to explain the reason That Christmas carols were sung. We sat down, she read to me The story of His birth. A baby who was born to be    Our Saviour on this earth. Speaking to Mary, an angel said, "You'll bear a special son." Joseph had doubt, and the way he led, For their journey had just begun. They were going to pay due tax, In the city of which they're from. Loaded to travel on donkey's backs And from Mary this baby will come.   They arrived in Bethlehem, not up to par  With no vacancy at the inn to stay, They traveled all that distance so far With no bed where Mary could lay. A stable the only place they had, Where travelers' donkeys could stay, Both were worried and very sad Baby Jesus was soon on the way. Born beneath the starlit sky, And there was no bed for Him. He was born and they heard His cry Using hay for the mangers trim. Wrapping him in swaddling clothes Because that's all they had.  That is the time the family shows Jesus was a special lad.  She held him to her breast so tight, With our new world ready to begin. The King was born that special night. Love flowing from the heart within. The birth took place in Bethlehem They no longer needed to roam. It was so tough and dirty for them, So young and far from their home. I have memories of how I was told  With smiles on our faces to see, A pleasure to hear this story so old, He was born to die, setting everyone free.  Something to share with a loved one, Are the carols we've sung for years. A time of joy with happiness and fun, With memories and peaceful tears. Carols we sing to celebrate the birth Of Lord Jesus who died for us all. Singing songs with joys of their worth, With a celebration so great, not small. When I think back on this time of year I will always remember the reason, Celebrating with family and friends far or near "Because Jesus is the reason for the season."

Additional Notes:
These were memories of long ago when my mom explained why we sing Christmas carols and what this season is all about. Thinking back now, of how lucky we really are, how amazing it is.
