The Stranger Never looking back, I seal the door to my past. I don a cloak of apathy and Stride forward to discover enlightenment. Holding hands with the Unknown, I share my fears with the wind. My leaden boots, born out of pain and despair, Burden me so. Why must my mind betray me with the truth? I fall. A kind stranger lifts me. She smiles and the darkness ebbs. The cold veil of desperation is lifted And Fear removes its talons from my soul. I weep. Replete with joy I ask: “Who are you? Who are you to be so kind and help me? To render me free of my sorrows and show me happiness?” She smiles. “I am your shield. I am your nurturer. I am your guide. Dear one, I am no stranger. I have always been with you, And so shall I always be. Put your untamed fears aside And feel safe in the knowledge that I am Hope.” |
