Taga's Tinian Daughter

Lady, who is yours? What do you seek? You killed your father, they say. Were you so unrepenting that Hundreds of years can go by, A bomb Can  Drop That was pieced together on Your Land, That rings a toll paining that Father we face in the West, And yet You walk the village And do not wake in sleeping Thoughts More than a ritual "Do not go by Taga's stones When she is awake." I will pray for you. I will haunt you.

Additional Notes:
I lived on Tinian for a time. On a runway of the world's largest working airport during WWWII (Tinian) was painted a short message for Pope John Paul (he visited the Marianas shortly before I moved to Tinian). I've forgotten the exact working, but the gist was that the Enola Gay took off from this point. This poem was written in the same spirit as that message, the need to exorise the pain and futility still lingering on this lovely island. This poem is dedicated to the poet who penned Crossing the Threshold of Hope, Pope John Paul II.
