He knows what ?

A person needs to know a lot Before he knows that he knows not He knows why tides, they ebb and flow He also knows he doesn't know He knows how vast is outer space But knows not why he's in this place He knows the rod, he knows the reel He also knows not how to feel The miracle of life, he knows is grand He knows he doesn't understand He knows the smarter he will get The more there is, he knows not yet So more he'll learn and more he'll grow And more he'll see he doesn't know The wheres, the whats, the whos, the whys The less he knows, the more he tries The more he tries, the less he knows His mind expands, his spirit grows So trying keeps his mind alive So trying fills him with his drive And then, at last, he understands He'll never know, That fate's not mans He'll know he knows he doesn't know Because of this, he'll always grow A person needs to know a lot Before he knows that he knows not
