If I

The words I love you scare me, this I do admit If I said I love you  will this come with a risk of the door flying open with you ready to flee not caring of what you are about to leave. If I say I love you will you stay and not flee For we are your family we have been here, now four years.  You have said you loved me, this I do believe for it has taken you three months to tell me how you feel. I do love you, please be assured it is the words I love you  that I cant say, like I did before. This does not mean these words wont pass your way for these words shall be here for you  when I am convinced that you will stay.

Additional Notes:
This poem is about being scared of the words I love you. To some I love you is a scary thought. The saying (Once bitten twice shy) will fall into this category. I have been with my confidante now four years and for me to say the words I love you really scares the pants off me. Though I know I do it is just the words I cant say. I have said these words in the last four years it is recently in the last few months that I find that I love you is very scary in words to say.
