The Carols For Celebration Long ago, one holiday season When I was very young, I asked Mom to explain the reason Why Christmas carols were sung. We sat down, she read to me The story of His birth. A baby who was born to be Our Savior on this earth. Speaking To Mary, an angel said "You'll bear this child, a special son." Joseph doubted that but the way he led, For their journey had just begun. Traveling to pay the taxes they owed For the city which they were from, A long hard move, by the old dirt road And from Mary this baby will come. In Bethlehem, beneath the bright star There was no vacant inn to stay, They traveled all that distance so far With no bed where Mary could lay. A stable was the only place they found Where the weary travelers could stay, Both were worried while parent bound For Baby Jesus was on the way. Born beneath the starlit sky, No soft bed was there for Him. As He was born they heard His cry Using hay for the manger's trim. She held him to her breast so tight, Our new world was ready to begin. The King was born that special night With love flowing from the heart within. I have memories of how I was told And with smiles on our faces to see A pleasure to hear this story of old, He was put here to die, to set everyone free. Something we share with a loved one Are the carols we've sung for years A time of joy with happiness and fun Filled with memories and peaceful tears. Songs to celebrate the birth and joy Of Lord Jesus who died for us all. Put here on earth as Mary's baby boy, Loving everyone, whether large or small. Thinking back during this time of year I will always remember the reason, Celebrating with family and friends far and near "Because Jesus is the reason for the season." |
