Promise Land

My son was staring at a picture that was hanging on the wall inquisitively he ask me, who's that in the picture Pa? I said, that was your pap paw son, when he was just a boy, back when they didn't have T.V. and he never owned a toy. The field you see him in he worked each day from morn too night, then he'd come home and eat with us, and read by candle-light. He'd tell us these old stories of when he was a child, I remember him saying things back then were not so wild. Why did pap paw work so hard, why didn't he have fun? because he had to earn his pay to feed his family son. was pap paw happy when he was here, why did he go away? oh he was happy thats for sure, but we all must leave someday I wish that I could see him pa for real, and hold his hand. well son one day you'll see him, when we reach the Promise Land. How far is it pa when can we go, can everybody come? it's not too far, if we work real hard, like pap paw we'll get there son.

Additional Notes:
I never got to see any of my grand-parents, I suppose you could say this is a daydream.
