Finding Each Other

What happens when the wind of reality    blows away the clouds which blanketed our senses?  When the sunlight that once was refreshingly warm     becomes too brilliant for our understanding?  And the glossy road to the future      is blanched stark and no longer shows direction? What happens when the knight in shining armor    begins to show his battle wounds?  While the princess in the tower     decides to save her tired voice from hurting  And they no longer yearn to ponder the possibility   of role-playing one more time. What happens when small annoyances become major burdens?  When the expectation level is raised,   and the acceptance level is lowered? What happens when the glitter fades, the masks fall off   the marks aren't made? What happens when the shoe won't drop, the feelings wane,   curiosity stops? What happens to the plans that fade when daily life   tolls each hour? What happens to the perfect light that has faded from our sight? What happens is we see each other   as people who have emerged from years of experience    unique only to ourselves. Our own struggles, hardships, luck, happiness  crossroads and detours, gains and losses These are life's puzzle pieces that have created who we are. And now we are not blinded by infatuation We can begin to see how the pieces join  and slowly understand from where they fell And start building a more comfortable appreciation   Of the real people that have emerged    from behind the clouds.
