Autumn in December

Southern afternoon skies still boast in blazing sun, as summer's balmy breath continues to linger behind, breathing fresh life upon the face of the landscape. Somewhere, Jack Frost got lost along his icy journey! Sleeping too long, he forgot to check his calendar, or his freezing fingers were caught in a northern net. slowing his chilling progress into southern extremity. Splashes of bright blooms continue to sprinkle my garden, adding their final moments of glory to memorie's picture, as withering siblings, sadly, remind me of their soft demise. Shy rosebuds appear, sparcely now, hesitating slightly, on a cool morn, to unfurl their soft, romantic shades; to emerge, a last dramatic show, in the kiss of the sun, before Jack comes to take their sensuous, velvet robes.  Sweet pansies peek boldly, among drooping daisies, their hardy little faces, bravely, weather bleakness, refusing to yield their color, even to a cold sword! Seasons seem to mesh together in a merry dance of color-- no complaint from me--as I revel in crisp, rowdy leaves, still dangling, playfully, from the arms of all the trees, waiting for winter's blast to conpletely steal their life. Sparkling lights adorn holiday trees in every window. December marches in, singing festive Christmas carols. Blazing colors continue--burgundy, bronze, and gold--  heralding the season, in Autumn's last splendid show!
