Love Songs

Songs can bring your soul release. They soothe the breast of savage beast. Old melodies through lives transcend. Make lovers ask, "Remember when?" That song first heard so long ago. The music soft... the candles low. Romantic night in music's trance. They blend their bodies in the dance. To new-found love it gave a spark, and as they whispered in the dark, the song did this sweet memory hold. They'll not forget, as they grow old. For every time that song they hear, that magic night returns so clear, and for their youth once more they long. Recaptured love brought by a song. Yet that SAME song brings others pain. They're tortured by its sad refrain. They think of love that will not be. Their love was blind... they could not see.  They gave their hearts... their bridges burned. Yet love to them was not returned. For some its right... for others wrong. Depends on love and not the song.

Additional Notes:
I wrote this a few years ago when a woman friend of mine openly wept as a particular song came on the radio. It hit me that the same song brought ME great joy, and thus this poem was "born". P.S. This one has been published:)
