Going Back Home

Aaron Neville's singing something on the radio, I've been keeping check on distance, I've got forty miles to go. His voice comes radiating softly thru the maze of speaker wires, keeping rythm with the wipers  and the humming of the tires. The song he's singing is a favorite of mine, Betcha by Golly Wow, and I'm wondering what they'll think of me, when they see me now. I look at the odometer I've only twenty miles to go another sweet old song comes on the radio. Dinah Washington is singing September In The Rain she always seemed to touch your soul and make you feel the pain. I'm wondering if they'll even care about me coming here I hear Ole Blue Eyes singing It Was A Very Good Year. Ten more miles to go as I hold the pedal down Barbara's  singing ever soulful Send In The Clown. Five more miles have passed me, only five more miles to go a sign says slippery when wet I'd better take it slow. Elvis is singing Are You Lonesome Tonight and the tears are suddenly flowing, I think to myself as I pull into town perhaps I should just keep on going.

Additional Notes:
The last stanza is a little out of beat with the others but this was to compensate.
