Lost As I lie in the darkness Discarded and cold I can feel the scavengers picking at my skin. Unconcerned are they, for they cannot taste my sins. - As I look behind me I can see the others, carcasses, lying cold and empty Just as I am soon to be. - As the venom that was once her love flows slowly through my veins. I still have hope that she will return to me again. - With hope still alive I look forward up the road but she is swallowed by the darkness Looking for her next encounter. - It's not the loss of love that causes the slow death within But the swiftness and the coldness of the deed. - For there was no reason For there was no closure Just release. And therefore I still hope. - But now the darkness overwhelms me and the emptiness is final. Copyright 1999 |
