I Wandered Down a Lonely Bit of Road

I wandered down a lonely bit of road one summer day and happened on another trail, leading off another way. With nothing in my schedule and little more to do I took the trail that lead away, and it led me straight to you. If I had been doing something different on that day you and I would never have the things we have to say, and I would  not be with you and you not in my heart, and I would not feel so blue when e’er we have to part. But here we are together sharing laughter, joy and tears and all that goes along with being friends for all these years. For I have found a true friend in your gentle, caring style and my life is richer since I walked that summer mile.
